What to Expect: Dental Fillings
Dental fillings are used to treat early decay or minor damage while preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible. At Rise, fillings are approached conservatively, with a focus on long-term tooth health and biologic balance.
Why a Filling May Be Recommended
When decay or damage is detected early, a filling allows us to remove compromised tissue and seal the tooth before the problem progresses. This helps prevent deeper decay that could later require a crown or root canal.
Before Your Appointment
- Medications: No pre-medication is typically required.
- Forms & Consent: Consent forms must be completed prior to treatment.
- Ozone Therapy: Ozone may be used to disinfect the area and support healthier healing of the tooth.
During Your Visit
- The tooth is comfortably numbed as needed
- Decay is removed with a conservative approach
- Ozone may be applied to reduce bacterial load
- A tooth-colored composite filling is placed and shaped
- Your bite is carefully checked and adjusted
Your Filling Timeline
| Stage | What Happens | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Filling Visit | Decay removal, ozone (if indicated), composite filling placement | Day 0 |
| Follow-Up (If Needed) | Bite or sensitivity adjustment | As needed |
After Your Filling: What’s Normal
- Mild sensitivity to temperature or pressure
- Slight bite awareness as your tooth adjusts
- Temporary tenderness that typically resolves within a few days
Fillings are designed to protect the tooth and slow future breakdown. If a tooth shows signs of deeper stress over time, we’ll guide you thoughtfully on next steps.
